Most of the photos on this site were taken right in Arlington, Texas — under some of the most light-polluted skies in North Texas. No mountain retreats, no remote dark-sky reserves. Just a backyard, a camera, and a lot of patience.
Some shots demand more, though. The Galactic Core captures and cinematic footage were taken about 50 miles west in Weatherford, Texas — Bortle 5 skies, and open enough to actually see the Milky Way's core, which the trees back home won't allow. Jesse goes where the shot requires it, whether that's the backyard or a drive across the metroplex.
I built this site to give his work the home it deserves. I'm not the one behind the camera most times — I just think what he's doing is worth showing off. — Ray Moore
The Process
Jesse works with a Canon EOS 60D and Canon EOS 6D — solid, capable cameras, but nothing exotic. What makes the difference is technique: long exposure stacking, careful noise reduction, and a lot of trial and error to pull detail out of skies that are often fighting back with every streetlight in the DFW metro.
Every image here started as dozens (sometimes hundreds) of individual frames, stacked and processed to reveal what the naked eye — and even a single exposure — could never show. It's less about having the best gear, and more about squeezing everything possible out of the sky you've got, wherever you find it.
